SW Indian Ocean

My impressions

The trade winds of centuries past brought more than goods along their winding paths; they carried ingredients—people, customs, languages, dishes—unique to each port, loaded onto caravelles and brigantines bound for La Réunion and Mauritius. Over time and through proximity, these elements blended into a common recipe—a living stew of cultural, religious, and gastronomic diversity, heard in the creoles, tasted in the curries and stir-fries, seen in the temples. What may be distinctive elsewhere coexists seamlessly here, as effortlessly as a walk along its beaches and as tenderly as its sunsets. Spend a long weekend on each, create your own trade route, take its magical ingredients, make your own recipe.
